Abercorn Primary School

Learning and Working Together “The quality of education provided by this school is outstanding” January 2014 ETI

Welcome

P.E. in the Abercorn

PE is an integral part to life at Abercorn.  Each class takes part in 2 timetabled PE sessions per week.  PE lessons include activities in the following areas as outlined in the Northern Ireland curriculum document:

  • Athletics
  • Dance
  • Games
  • Gymnastics
  • Swimming (KS2)

PE lessons are delivered by our teachers as well as specialist coaches.  We have had coaches from the IFA, Banbridge RFC, Teach It Train It and many more deliver lessons to our pupils.

We take part in The Daily Mile initiative to help us keep fit.  This is our Primary 2s enjoying the fresh air and exercise.

School Quality Marks - Bronze Award

This year Abercorn have been working towards the bronze award of the School Quality Marks scheme.  This scheme aims to promote and instil a strong culture of football within schools at all levels.  We have received this award in recognition of the organisational structures put in place to allow football to flourish here in our school.  Not only do we receive a plaque to display in our school but also brand new sports equipment to help the development of football.
