Abercorn Primary School

Learning and Working Together “The quality of education provided by this school is outstanding” January 2014 ETI

Welcome

Curriculum

At The Abercorn, we offer a rich and varied curriculum that provides continuity and progression and takes individual differences into account. We endeavour to help each child reach their full potential and achieve as high a standard as he/she can.
The Northern Ireland Curriculum places considerable emphasis on the development of thinking skills and personal capabilities so our work involves children in managing information, being creative, working with others, problem solving, decision making and active learning skills.
Taking into account the various stages of development and differing rates of learning our teaching methods will carefully match the needs of each pupil.

The social and emotional wellbeing of our pupils is paramount. We deliver the Barnardos PATHS programme in every class as part of PDMU. Through this programme the children are taught how to express their emotions, how to regulate them and how to be a good friend.  Our children love being chosen as Pupil of the Day and receiving their compliments list.
