In our autumn topic we have been learning about the famous Dutch artist Van Gogh and his painting "Sunflowers". Here are our masterpieces inspired by Van Gogh's work.

During our visit to Banbridge library, we learnt how to tell the difference between fiction and non-fiction books. We explored storybooks filled with imagination and creativity and also discovered books that teach us real facts about the world.

    Welcome to Year 4 Wakeling

    Christmas fun in Year 4/5

We are learning about the mathematical symbols 'greater than' and 'less than'. We played a game in pairs. We each had to write down a number. We then got to compare our number to that of our partner. We chose the correct symbol to complete the mathematical sentence.

As part of our topic on Australia, we decided to produce some pictures of the Great Barrier Reef. We loved seeing photos of the brightly coloured fish and coral and tried to recreate this in our artwork. We think we did a great job.

We created underwater themed tiles and used block printing to make multiple copies of our design.

Welcome to Year 4/5. We are the class of 2024-2025.

       ☃️❄️☔️☀️ Weather⛈⛈☁️

This term our World Around Us topic is ‘Weather’. We love to be real weather presenters when we make and record our own forecasts.  Do you think these forecasters will get a job on BBC NI Weather?

    Real Life Maths: Weight

P4 have been estimating how many apples, tins, potatoes, books and even how many shoes are needed to make 1kg. After estimating, we used scales and worked in groups to find out the actual amount needed. We had to look closely at the dial to make sure our results were accurate.

       World Book Day

Just look at who came to our classroom on World Book Day! It was great to see everyone dressed up as book characters and we spent time reading and discussing about our favourite authors.

Even our Maths work was about books! We used rulers to measure the length and width of books and recorded the measurements in cm.

     Chinese New Year

To celebrate the end of our World Around Us topic about Chinese New Year, we dressed up in Chinese themed colours and outfits. We did special activities and had some Chinese food. Do you like our hats?

Everyone enjoyed the Science experiment where we tried to find out what would help us to make our lucky pennies shine like new. We tried vinegar, ketchup, lemon juice and then a mixture of salt and vinegar.

    Celebrating Chinese New Year!

    Enjoying our Chinese lessons.

    Amazing Journey

Our topic this term has been Autumn. We have enjoyed examining sunflowers and learning about Van Gogh's sunflower paintings. We painted our own sunflowers.

In Numeracy, we used our processing skills to dress a scarecrow for under £1. We worked in pairs and calculated our change.

In Activity Based Learning, we created Lego Autumn trees, used tissue paper to decorate leaves and practised our printing skills.
